Treatment

Purpose - The purpose of my film trailer is to entertain, I chose my genre and theme for the trailer because I personally believe this type of movie to be the most entertaining specifically because it has the potential to occur in real life which gives it the edge over other horror films which are based around paranormal storylines which can sometimes be slightly more difficult to believe. My trailer presents a young man who lives an ordinary life like any other however one day falls victim to an unprovoked kidnapping and finds himself stranded in an old rural house with a psychotic killer and must do everything in his power to escape. I aim to create a thrilling trailer which leaves the audience on the edge of their seat full of anticipation and adrenaline, ultimately making them engaged and interested enough to want to know the whole storyline and watch the actual film.

Target Audience - My target audience is ranged however I want it to appeal mostly to both males and females in the age range of 16-30 this is because it features content which may be unsuitable to anyone below the age of 16 however I kept the oldest target age at 30 as through research I have discovered that the audience for horror films is predominantly people aged 25 and below yet I rounded up to 30 as a buffer zone due to my film trailer being on the more realistic side of horror films as a whole which I believe will attract a slightly larger portion of older more mature people.

Genre - My genre is Horror/Thriller aiming to be a nail biting, adrenaline filled movie that grasps the audience. The storyline consists of a victim of a kidnapping who wakes up in a secluded house injured and confused by his situation but quickly comes to the realization he's in great danger and must escape without being caught by his deranged kidnapper.

Codes and conventions -

Timescales - I aim to take 3 weeks to a month on Pre-production planning, this includes mind map, mood board, storyboard, production schedule, call sheet, risk assessment, location permission etc. The actual filming itself I aim to finish within around 1-2 weeks the reason I have a quite wide filming time frame is because I will be shooting between two locations, one which may have varied availability, Furthermore a few of my shots require it to be night and clear conditions meaning shoots may have to be moved around. Finally for my post production editing and analysis I will hopefully complete this within 3 weeks as I don't aim to edit that much in order to keep a more raw feel to the trailer, most of my editing will be on the audio and the time I have left will be used for post production analysis as well as gaining some feedback from an audience.

Personnel - There will only be one person to feature in the trailer (Finley Robinson) who has given written consent to be filmed. The only other people related to the filming of our trailer is myself and Saul Robertson both of which don't feature in the trailer itself but will film and record sound.

Script - A script wont be necessary for my trailer because there is no dialogue featured in it.
